The Orthodox Christians in South Ossetia are celebrating one of the main Christian holidays - the Resurrection of Christ - Easter. The believers gathered in two churches in the capital: the Church of the Holy Trinity and the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The clergy held festive divine services, Easter cakes and eggs have been consecrated. .

The orthodox made cross processions around the churches, shouting “Christ is risen! Chyrysti raygas! -He is truly risen! .Bælvyrd raygas!

On Thursday night, a service was held in the Church of the Holy Trinity in Tskhinval, after which, traditionally, Epiphany bathing was organized on the Malaya Liakhva River in the village of Dmenis, Tskhinval district of South Ossetia.
